We asked what citizens prioritize regarding environmental issues before the campaign for local elections. We listened to citizen voices for Climate Action, and the main topics highlighted include inadequate waste management and the water pollution it generates, air pollution and its impact on residents’ health, and the lack of incentives for sustainable mobility (such as insecurity and poor cycling and pedestrian infrastructure).
We see citizens’ dissatisfaction with the lack of protection for the environment, air, and water; however, few candidates prioritized actions for the care of the planet. We call on citizens to demand concrete and decisive actions from public officials that prioritize and protect life, which depends on the care of our planet.
